The Ghost of Lola Rose

The Ghost of Lola Rose has been haunting the corridors of an derelict pub in Birmingham, England for some years. She has since plucked up the courage and strength to start interacting with the world to share Lola's music.

Following the death of singer-songwriter Lola Rose, her ghost filled the empty void of her existence with trying to communicate Lola’s stories of human struggle to the living, in the hope that her death would not have been in vain. The ghost hopes that others could be helped by sharing Lola’s raw and honest stories about trauma, tragedy and mental health.

The ghost has realised too many lives are ruined by those not seeking help for their struggles sooner; she knows this so well as she is the result of this – doomed to walk the earth for eternity trying to reduce the stigma and hardship that brought her into this plane of being. The ghost is stuck between life and death as so many others are, damned to repeat the same unhealthy cycles and live on the edge of a fulfilling existence; never quite getting there; watching others thrive as they struggle to survive each day.

Aside from a celebration of all things 'dark country', this music is for those that are fascinated with the darker side of life and the unanswered questions of existence and for those that don’t ‘fit’, those that don’t ‘belong’...those who feel so alone and empty that every day is an effort to get through as their brain is their own worst enemy. People think you’re ‘making it up’, that you’re ‘attention seeking’, ‘manipulative’; ‘it’s all behavioural’ …you just need to ‘pull yourself together’….’live in the real world’… without acknowledging the very real pain and struggle you experience every day.

It’s almost easier to see it as a demon living inside of you, a root of evil niggling away, making you say and do things you don’t really want to, it skews your perceptions and your relationships, hell-bent on destroying them. It is as if some strange voodoo beyond your control is taking over your mind and your life, making so many mistakes that fill you with regrets. There is so much I don’t know, but if sharing even one of these songs helps someone feel less alone in their fight, then that will make this ghost's little project worthwhile.
